On Wednesday, June 30th, 2021 the Social Law Library hosted Community Corrections Centers are now Community Justice Support Centers CLE program. For more than 20 years the Commonwealth’s network of Community Corrections Centers has served exclusively as a community-based alternative in cases where a sentence to the house of correction is not necessary or appropriate. Supreme Judicial Court Issues New Orders Regarding Court Operations and Access to Courthouses

(July 1) Prompted by the continued improving situation in the Commonwealth with respect to COVID-19, the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) today issued two updated orders regarding access to and the operation of Massachusetts state courts. Trial Court Chief Justice Paula M. Carey Appoints Honorable Heidi E. Brieger Chief Justice of the Superior Court

Trial Court Chief Justice Paula M. Carey today announced the appointment of Judge Heidi E. Brieger as Chief Justice of the Superior Court for a five-year term in accordance with G.L. c.211B, §5. Judge Brieger was appointed by Governor Deval L. Patrick to the Superior Court in 2012. She serves as the Regional Administrative Justice for Civil Business in Suffolk County and chairs the Superior Court Education Committee. Read Full Article

Justice Index Ranks Massachusetts Third in Nation & First in Northeast

Court leaders today announced results of the latest Justice Index, an online, data-intensive ranking survey published this week by the National Center for Access to Justice, which measures the extent to which states have adopted best practices for ensuring access to justice for all.
