RESEARCH ATTORNEYS -- MASSACHUSETTS SUPERIOR COURT
The Massachusetts Superior Court seeks to fill three Research Attorney positions, serving all the Justices of the Superior Court. This is a professional, permanent position within the Administrative Office of the Superior Court. Research Attorneys assist the Justices with legal research, writing, and analysis. Research Attorneys prepare draft decisions, research memoranda, and other documents; analyze and research specific legal issues and questions for the judges; and may assist in training and oversight of other legal research staff and interns. The positions are expected to be based primarily in Boston, Woburn, or Fall River, but may be required to travel or transfer to other locations according to the needs of the Court.
Requirements include membership in the Massachusetts Bar (or actively applying), and excellent writing, communication, and legal research skills. Preferred: (1) Applicants with at least two years of post-law school experience in a litigation context, with or without judicial clerkship experience, and/or (2) current judicial law clerks who are in the second year or more of their clerkship(s), particularly in the Massachusetts courts. A reliable car and the willingness and ability to travel to courthouses throughout the Commonwealth are requirements of the position. Research attorneys must reside in Massachusetts during the duration of their employment.
Start date will be as soon as possible. Starting salary is $78,501.47 per year. Employee benefits include subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance, ten days of paid vacation time, and three days of paid personal time per year. This posting will remain open until February 2, 2022.
