Shutdown Bill Revives VAWA

The legislation that ended the federal government shutdown for now also included a provision reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The law provides for victim assistance as well as education and training programs to improve the court system’s response to domestic violence and sexual assault. Read Full Article

New Law Improves Identity Theft Protection

Massachusetts residents have more protection from data security breaches with the approval of a law on January 10. Credit Reporting Agencies that suffer system hacks will now have to provide free credit freezes and three years of credit monitoring for their customers.
