Day one of this two-day conference will feature opening remarks by Chief Justice John Casey of the Probate and Family Court. The panel will discuss TBI/ABI and Substance Use focusing on the impact of co-occurrence – challenges, realities and resources for individuals with a traumatic or acquired brain injury and substance use disorders. They will also talk about agency resources and how DMH, DDS and MassHealth impact clients under guardianship and tips to overcome obstacles within each agency.
On day two the Keynote Address will be made by Sandy Hovey, CCM, Executive Director of Public Guardian Services. The panel will discuss Commitments and Guardianship and navigating the challenges of the civil commitment process and how it differs from guardianship clinically and procedurally. The expert panel will also discuss the Nursing Home Response to COVID-19 and advanced directive expansions with the Probate Court in the midst of the pandemic - Challenges and Triumphs.
