An Interactive Seminar for Experienced Housing Lawyers with Disability Law Experience
This is not a program on “basics.” This program is designed for attorneys with a working knowledge of the regulations and laws relating to reasonable accommodations in housing.
This year will mark the 25th Anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act, which created new rights and responsibilities for property owners, property managers and tenants in connection with access to housing. Together with Massachusetts laws and regulations which prohibit discrimination based upon disability, this act has created a number of challenging issues for attorneys and their clients, complicated by the fact that each scenario has vastly different factual considerations, which prohibits a “one size fits all” solution. Questions of responsibility and liability based upon reasonable accommodations occur at all stages in the landlord tenant relationship, from the application to the termination of the tenancy, including being raised at the eve of eviction.
