(7/28) Trial Court Awarded Two Federal Grants to Expand Court-Based Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Services for Specialty Courts in Boston and Springfield

Trial Court Chief Justice Paula Carey and Court Administrator Jonathan Williams today announced that the Trial Court has received two federal grants totaling $6 million from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to provide mental and behavioral health services within the Boston Municipal Court and the Springfield Drug Court. Massachusetts Trial Court to Launch Federally Funded Grant Program for Drug Courts in Lawrence and Lowell ​

Massachusetts Trial Court Chief Justice Paula M. Carey and District Court Chief Justice Paul C. Dawley, together with local and court officials, will formally announce the launch of the MISSION-Mill Cities Grant, which will significantly expand services to court-involved men and women with both substance use and mental health disorders participating in the Lawrence and Lowell Drug Courts. “Rosie D.” Class Action Lives On

​On February 7 United States District Court Judge Michael Ponsor refused to release the state of Massachusetts from federal supervision of the mental health care it provides to children on the public insurance program, MassHealth. The class action lawsuit, known as Rosie D. v. Baker, has been in process since 2001. Read Full Article
