This program covers brief writing and oral argument with an emphasis on how to make a persuasive case for your client. The co-authors of Massachusetts Appellate Practice (LexisNexis), Chief Justice Armstrong and Attorney Carey know the art of appellate advocacy firsthand; one pitching numerous cases on appeal and teaching how to do it, the other hearing countless arguments from 36 years on the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Like other lawyers and judges, they have learned over the years from their own mistakes and the mistakes of others, and they will share the lessons they’ve learned from both sides of the bench how to succeed on appeal.

Law Librarian Karen Breda will recommend free Massachusetts legal resources and demonstrate where to find these resources. Top quality legal research in Massachusetts Law is essential to success, and how to find what you need (even without Westlaw, Lexis, etc.) will also be covered.
