The best appellate attorneys in Massachusetts do more than file good briefs and argue their cases well. They also consider which of the two appellate courts is better suited to hear and decide their appeals. They know how to assess their options and strategize, both before and after an appeal has been decided, if they wish to move their case from the Appeals Court into the Supreme Judicial Court.
This program focuses on the SJC’s selection of its cases from the Appeals Court’s docket; how the direct and further appellate review processes work from the court’s perspective; what the court looks for when selecting cases at the different stages; and how counsel can best position their cases in our two-court appellate system.
