Roger Durkin - Business Valuation CLERoger Durkin, J.D, M.S., FASA, is a multi-disciplined appraiser and for 44 years has been a fellow of the American Society of Appraisers, and holds a master’s degree in valuation theory. As an attorney, he defends appraisers before the state licensing board and sues appraisers for professional negligence. He is the author of Appraisal Report Review and is the founder of the Boston law firm, Durkin Law, P.C.

This seminar will provide guidance on understanding the process of critically reviewing business valuation appraisal reports, real property appraisal reports, and personal property appraisal reports using a deductive paradigm. The program will feature a presentation of the generally accepted appraisal standards, demonstrate how the confusing appraisal dogma and trade jargon can lead to bad appraisals, and feature litigation cases wherein appraisers, as expert witnesses, succeeded or failed in their presentations.

Topics covered include:
• How to objectively critique appraisal reports
• IRS Circular 230 Penalties for attorneys, accountants, and appraisers
• Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)
• AICPA Valuation and Consulting Standards
