Two databases are joining forces to create a new, more streamlined interface!
Fastcase, which provides access to extensive US primary law collections, such as state and federal case law, statutes, and regulations and vLex, offering the largest collection of legal and regulatory information in the world including case law, legislation, books, newspapers and journals from over 100 countries - both civil and common law, will be upgrading to vLex Fastcase.
Only US primary law and publications will be accessible remotely on vLex Fastcase to Library members in Massachusetts. If you need access to the foreign and international law collections that vLex is known for, please contact the Reference Department at (617)226-1520 or reference@socialaw.com.
A key feature of the upgrade is the new Cert citator, which flags negative treatment and other citing references to a case. Cert is a major improvement over Fastcase’s previous citation service, Bad Law Bot, with vastly more extensive coverage and more types of negative treatment. The real advantage of Cert is the review by editorial experts that was missing in Bad Law Bot.
To access the new Fastcase, just login as you normally would on the Research Database page. You will then be given the option to access the upgraded platform, vLex Fastcase, or continue to the existing Fastcase 7 service.

For the time being, users will still be able to use the old Fastcase 7 platform to ease the transition. This upgrade is included as part of your membership to the Social Law Library
Members have two opportunities to attend upcoming Introduction to vLex Fastcase webinars.
