The Massachusetts Superior Court seeks to fill three Research Attorney I positions to be based primarily in Boston, Worcester, or Fall River/New Bedford. The Research Attorney position is a professional, permanent position within the Administrative Office of the Superior Court (AOSC). Research Attorneys assist the Justices of the Superior Court by preparing draft decisions, legal research memoranda, and other documents; researching and analyzing specific legal issues; and providing other valuable assistance to the Justices or the AOSC as needed.
Requirements include a minimum of two years of legal experience, with excellent writing, communication, and legal research skills. Judicial clerkship and/or extensive experience involving a high volume of legal research and writing in the litigation context preferred. Research attorneys must reside in Massachusetts for the duration of their employment and be able to travel to Superior Court Courthouses throughout the Commonwealth as needed.
Start date will be as soon as possible. Starting salary is $89,203.40 per year. Employee benefits include subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance, ten days of paid vacation time, and three days of paid personal time per year. After an initial training and trial period, a new Research Attorney may request a hybrid office/remote work schedule, subject to certain conditions and requirements.
