The Massachusetts Superior Court seeks to fill one Research Attorney position, serving all the Justices of the Superior Court. This is a professional, permanent position within the Administrative Office of the Superior Court. Research Attorneys assist the Justices with legal research, writing, and analysis. Research Attorneys prepare draft decisions, research memoranda, and other documents; analyze and research specific legal issues and questions for the judges; and may assist in training and oversight of other legal research staff and interns. The position is expected to be based primarily in Boston, but may be required to travel or transfer to other locations according to the needs of the Court.
Requirements include a minimum of two years of legal experience, with excellent writing, communication, and legal research skills. Judicial clerkship and/or extensive experience involving a high volume of legal research and writing in the litigation context preferred. Research attorneys must reside in Massachusetts for the duration of their employment.
Start date will be as soon as possible. Starting salary is $80,071.49 per year. Employee benefits include subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance, ten days of paid vacation time, and three days of paid personal time per year. The Superior Court recognizes the importance of a work-life balance and is developing a hybrid office/remote work policy.
