Juvenile Court Chief Justice Amy Nechtem Announces Attorney Thomas Capasso as Juvenile Court Deputy Court Administrator

BOSTON, MA -- Juvenile Court Chief Justice Amy Nechtem and Trial Court Administrator Jon Williams today announced the selection of Attorney Thomas Capasso, Director of the Probation Records Unit, to serve as the Deputy Court Administrator for the Juvenile Court. His appointment will be effective November 1, 2018, succeeding Deputy Court Administrator Jim Morton, who took a position with the Executive Office of the Trial Court.

Attorney Capasso joined the Massachusetts Probation Service in 2014 and oversaw operations and policy implementation for the 10-person records unit and represented probation on the Criminal Records Review Board.  He had previously served in several roles at the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services from 2006-2014. As the Deputy General Counsel and the Director of Legal Services he acted as the Director of Hearings and addressed issues related to access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).  From 2000-2006 he served as the Assistant General Counsel for the Sex Offender Registry Board where he interpreted provisions of the Sex Offender Registry law for the board, agency staff, the criminal justice community and the public. 

“Attorney Capasso brings management and legal skills and experience that will enable us to enhance the operations of the Juvenile Court,” said Chief Justice Nechtem. “I look forward to working with him as we address the provisions of criminal justice reform related to the juvenile population and expand our commitment to access to justice for our court users.”

Attorney Capasso has a J.D. from Suffolk University School of Law and also graduated from Northeastern University and Boston Latin School.  He resides with his family in Winthrop.
