On September 24th and October 21st, the Massachusetts Guardianship Association and Social Law Library hosted “Guardianship Law Series: Complexities, Challenges & Latest Developments”. The event was co-sponsored by the Flaschner Judicial Institute. The faculty and audience were comprised of attorneys, judges, medical professionals, and guardians who shared their expertise on a variety of topics, including substituted judgement cases, financial issues in guardianship and conservatorship, end of life and life sustaining treatments, and ethics. Hon. Chief Justice Angela Ordoñez of the Probate and Family Court was the keynote speaker of Session One and spoke to the audience about the court’s achievements and remaining challenges with regards to guardianship. Bob Fleischner, Center for Public Representation, was the keynote speaker of Session Two.
