Want to know how many percentage points a candidate lost by? Trying to remember who ran for Sheriff in a county 10 years ago? Curious to see whether a town voted in favor of a certain ballot initiative? PD43+ is a searchable database of Massachusetts election statistics, pulled from the biannual report of voter registration, turnout, and election results put together by the Massachusetts Secretary’s office (also known as Public Document 43).
This database allows you to search Federal, State, and Local election statistics since 1970, providing a breakdown of vote totals by county, town, ward, and even precinct. Users can toggle results between percentage and total vote count, and see graphical breakdowns of the results. The full-text of ballot initiatives is available and users can also download the election data for any race as an Excel file for their own usage. You can also run a search by candidate and the website will provide a historical overview of all elections that they have run in, their success rates, and a list of their opponents in those races.
This website is a truly invaluable resource for those interested in Massachusetts politics at all levels, and provides an easy-to-use, clean interface for accessing election data.
